Apoqon Consulting is a small research and IT firm based in Ottawa that specializes in web development, research projects, strategic planning and technical writing. They practice organic methodologies and have a passion for deconstructing colonialism. The Principal Consultant of Apoqon, Lewis Barnaby, had expressed interest in expanding their marketing and branding activities; including having a logo redesign.

Apoqon Consulting wanted Patuo’kn to refresh their existing logo which had not succeeded so far in bringing their vision to life. They needed a new design that better translates their brand and values, along with their organic nature within the design elements. The redesign now expresses their Mi’kmaq identity, visually representing Mi’kmaq culture through subtle detailing (curved motifs) and a prominent fiddlehead. They wanted the fiddlehead from their existing logo to be more clear and translate better as an “a”, the existing colour (green) to stay the main colour, and to have a “boutique” sort of feel.
